Leaping Ahead

Happy February 29th – you don’t get to say that very often! And oooh it’s chilly outside. The great news is that spring is on its way and we have quite a few exciting updates from Grain HQ. This season includes news from Milan, two new gorgeous fashion brands, a redesigned website for Newland College, branding for a new school and lots more!

Petit Tribe in Milan: An unforgettable night with Vogue Italia & Anna Wintour

We are over the moon that Petit Tribe, the new childrenswear label with branding, packaging and ecommerce website by Grain, was showcased in the prestigious Next Talents 2016 scout initiative of Vogue Italia & Yoox.com (owner of NET-A-PORTER) last week in Milan.

First lady of fashion, American Vogue’s editor Anna Wintour OBE, personally complimented Petit Tribe’s branding and packaging design. Find out more here.

Kalayci: A new womenswear brand

We’ve been working behind the scenes with the Kalayci sisters to develop a stylish identity that captures the essence of their brand, and have rolled it out through stationery, hang tag designs and a website holding page.

To complement the identity we created the K-Lace pattern: a delicate arrangement of the logo icon, repeated to form a fine lace design. Keep your eyes open for more on the Kalayci project coming soon!

Visual identity for a new academy

Grain has been working with Ian Livingstone over the last few years on the development of his vision for digital creativity in education. After working initially on the branding of Ian’s free school we have just finished the branding of The Livingstone Foundation. The Livingstone Foundation has teamed up with Aspirations Academies Trust to open the first two Livingstone Academies in London’s Tower Hamlets and Bournemouth.

Branding international fashion

AYRA is a new sophisticated and vibrant fashion brand from Abuja, Nigeria, designed for glamorous individuals in African and international markets. The brand works exclusively with beautiful Vlisco fabric and Swiss lace. Grain worked with the brand from the very beginning, developing the brand strategy and creating a geometric wordmark and signature pattern. The website is currently a beautiful simple holding page. Please check in again soon to see the full beauty of the brand come alive.

A new website for Newland College

Having been part of the team who brought Newland College to life two years ago, we have continued to work with Newland College on advertising campaigns and other branding projects. With the school now open and kids and teachers filling the building with academic achievement and joy, a new platform was needed to share their work and passions with parents, friends and the rest of the world. The new website includes a bespoke publishing platform which Newland College shares with its two sister schools International Community School and Alexanders College.

English courses for adults and children

Our first project for the SKOLA Group was in 2011 when we worked with one of their independent schools. Skola Group also includes English as a foreign language teaching all year round. We created the master catalogue for the organisation that lists all their different locations and courses which they offer in England. Key to the project was to create convincing propositions for quick buy in and structured information to empower every potential customer to make their own choices.

A brochure for ICS summer courses

We have been working with ICS International Community School on a complete brand facelift over the last year with a new identity, website, signage and apparel. ICS occupies several sites in central London, including York Terrace East near Regents Park, Star Street near Paddington Station, and a new site in Wyndham Place, Marylebone. Being one of only a handful of schools to offer the full International Baccalaureate programme, ICS also offers a wide range of summer courses for children aged 3-17. We created their latest brochure which shows how ICS takes their knowledge as a full academic school and applies it to learning English as a foreign language.

New to team Grain – meet Lila

Meet Lila Szagun, our new graphic designer! Lila is an award-winning designer with an HND in Typographic Design from London College of Communications. Raised in Germany, Lila worked for Meta Design in Berlin as well as London design agencies, applying her skills in the education sector, across glossy magazines titles and with luxury brands. In her free time you can find her chasing her two boys in the park, stretching at a yoga class or covered in paint in her ‘art kitchen’ – oh, and she also bakes some very good banana muffins!

Hope you enjoyed the update! Keep warm and we look forward to catching up soon.
