James Canning,
Thoughts on small enterprises
Categories
After working on a project for the Peter Jones Enterprise Academy, the idea of being an entrepreneur has been swilling around my brain for the last few months. The idea of having a small unique business is an exciting and seemingly very satisfying one.
With a bigger push from the government for people to start pursuing entrepreneurial exploits, it seems that this could be a much more common place way of life in the near future.
A great example of this is Rockaway Taco, NY. I discovered this gem in a film by The Selby, pretty inspiring to those who want to get away from the humdrum of everyday life.
The owner, Andrew Field, is content to sleep on his roof and share this space with his bees. The design of the cafe is cool and unique, and is right on target with its market of surfers and locals.
To many people, being an entrepreneur evokes images of a relentless business mind and vast wealth. Personally I’d pick sun, sea and skateboards over a Ferrari any day.
