Kent Le,
Grain’s creative director Madelyn Postman speaks at Innovation Seminar in China
Madelyn Postman leading the talk.
It has been a great year for Grain from being invited to guest lecture at several universities to leading industry talks. Most recently, our Creative Director Madelyn Postman was invited to join local industrial design and ecommerce professionals to speak at the Industrial Innovation Seminar in Zhongshan, China.
With more than 200 business leaders from the region attending, the seminar focused on the importance of investing in branding for businesses. Especially with today’s globalisation, it becomes more and more important for any business to understand the role of strategic branding in creating public awareness and in helping brands successfully make an impact in new markets.
Unlike other practices, branding sits at the core of everything and it differentiates the business in term of USP, storytelling, and narrative – like a fingerprint. Without good branding, it’s difficult for a good business to grow.
Madelyn also shared some of her stories from when she worked at Gucci Group and with Burberry: how experience in the luxury sector polished her skills and raised the bar in terms of production values. This enhances her expertise that she now uses to help Grain’s clients grow from strength to strength.

Madelyn interviewed after the seminar by local and regional Chinese media.
During the seminar, Madelyn also shared some of her insights from working in branding in London and addressed key elements that all business leaders need to be aware of. Some misunderstandings about branding & marketing were also discussed. For example, good branding cannot and will not substitute a great service or product. The product needs to be well-designed and have strong USPs. Also, a good brand won’t sell itself unless it is supported by strong marketing, PR and strategy.
The seminar provided Madelyn with the wonderful opportunity to experience firsthand the state of branding in China today, and to share Grain’s offer with this exciting market.
