Graduate Fashion Week 2016: Where creativity meets practicality and commercialism
Categories
We’re back at the Graduate Fashion Week (GFW) again this year with an invitation from University of East London for their final year fashion show.
The collections presented throughout the show consisted of edgy and urban military reworked utility styled garments, with a clear influence from digital print. Antonia Nae’s collection stole my heart. It’s edgy and dark and yet it’s sexy and feminine.

Going through all the photos we took of this collection, it’s quite amazing how Antonia could take something so tough, like leather, and give it such a soft treatment with the lace details. I wish you could sit there with me when the light was on and the model was walking on the catwalk showcasing these beautiful dresses – the rocker chick look was brilliant. I can easily see these being sold on the high street.
I was then invited to joine the Award Show event on the last day of the GFW, attending high figures such as Vivienne Westwood and Christopher Bailey. And guess what, our favourite designer student Antonia won the Lipsy Red Carpet Dress award!
Seeing all of the collections, I’m excited to see how many fresh talents could bring their creative concepts to the table and create more beautiful pieces of work for the fashion world. These aren’t just talented young designers; they’re the luxury fashion brands of the future!
