Madelyn Postman,
Dyslexia, entrepreneurs and an Amazon gift card
Categories
You may have come across our recent survey on entrepreneurs, what’s important to them and how they work with branding and design agencies. To thank people for completing the survey we had a prize draw for a £50 Amazon gift voucher. The lucky winner is Stephen McCue who founded and runs Dyslexia Pathways.
An interesting statistic is that 10% of the population is dyslexic and 20 to 35% of entrepreneurs are dyslexic, depending on which study you read.
From Stephen McCue (BSc Hons, PGCE Inclusive Education, Cert Adult Dyslexia Support and MA Unit Multi Sensory e-Learning and Dyslexia):
“Dyslexia Pathways CIC is a social enterprise and our main objective is to enable people with dyslexia to unlock their potential and achieve according to their abilities within education, employment and training for employment. We were the first social enterprise with a dyslexia focus here in Scotland.
At Dyslexia Pathways CIC we actively support and promote the social model of dyslexia and disability.
We would argue that dyslexia is an experience that arises out of natural human diversity on the one hand and a world on the other where the early learning of literacy, and good personal organisation and working memory is mistakenly used as a marker of ‘intelligence’.
We have recently developed a new project called Unique Dyslexic Get Creative Project. We have secured funding from a number of different sources including the Big Lottery for this project.
To find out more about the work we do and the Unique Dyslexic Get Creative Project please read my blog or visit our Unique Dyslexic Facebook group.
We will shortly be launching two new websites for Dyslexia Pathways CIC.”
