Moving into the autumn, we have a bumper crop of updates from Grain HQ and a fresh new design of the newsletter for you as well. This season includes a new product name for Kenwood, launches for SKOLA Group schools, a blog called ‘Design & a Dog’ and lots more!
A new website for Alexanders College
On the stunning Suffolk coast, Alexanders College is a coed boarding school for ages 11-18. We were excited to continue our work with the SKOLA Group with the redesign and development of the Alexanders College website. They were looking for a content rich, user friendly site focused on student work. The website includes the development of a bespoke platform that enables students to publish their own work online safely: a new approach to website engagement.
A brochure for English as a foreign language
We’ve created an inspiring brochure to showcase the SKOLA Group’s English language courses for 2016. With courses inside and outside the classroom, SKOLA English offers the opportunity to combine learning English as a foreign language with special experiences in their unique locations around England. The brochure is upbeat and engaging, highlighting SKOLA’s strength developed since 1979 of creating experiences beyond learning English.
New for the International Community School
After our collaboration on the interactive online story book, we’ve worked on all aspects of the ICS brand from strategy to identity, brochures, signage and apparel. We were keen to continue rolling out the brand through the rest of its channels. The prospectus has been carefully crafted to reflect the new ICS look and communicate the diversity of the schools, and the new website features content created by the students and teachers themselves.
Newland College opens its doors
This month we saw Newland College open its doors for the first time as a year-round school with the new students on their way to earning their International Baccalaureate degrees. After creating the identity, website and interiors, the Grain team have continued to work on all brand communication for the school, the most recent being a branded Newland College minibus. Keep an eye out for the brightly coloured bus driving around the Chilterns!
The fine art of a project
We have enjoyed a long and happy relationship with Gloucester Room and worked on several projects for them over the years. We worked with them to develop their name, created an identity for the brand and developed their first website. When the business evolved recently to incorporate an artwork-leasing service, Gloucester Room came back to us to refresh their website accordingly; we also created a brochure promoting the new service.
Devoted to Devotion
Seeing the best sales they have ever had, and with a stunning new collection of limited edition ring designs to show off, Devotion is going from strength to strength.
It’s been three years since we created Devotion’s identity, packaging and website. Since then we have refreshed their website and developed the creative for store windows and many campaigns to help drive customers in store. If you find yourself on Long Island, you must pop by and say hi!
Another tasty name for Kenwood
Last time we told you about one of Kenwood’s latest products that we named – MultiOne – the machine that slices, chops, mixes, grates, whisks, and beats.
We have been busy naming another: a compact food processor which will not only prepare your food, but can also cook or steam it too! We created the name, kCook, for this beautifully designed one-pot solution.
Both projects involved a great deal of legal manoeuvring. Using our strategic and naming expertise and working with Kenwood’s in-house legal team, we made sure the names would be unique across the brand’s global marketplace, while communicating the products’ many uses to consumers who speak various languages.
Introducing Design & a Dog
Striking a balance between work life and personal life can be a real challenge and is something that is very important to us here at Grain Creative.
Madelyn has been working in design for over 20 years whilst maintaining a healthy work/life balance with her husband Christoph, their two children and the new addition to the family: a dog called Sunny. She decided to share her stories and strategies for creating a joyful life fuelled by design on Design & a Dog.
Subscribe here to get all the latest posts directly to your inbox. Guest posts are also welcome, with the first one contributed by Princess Diana’s wedding dress designer, Elizabeth Emanuel. We’re loving the posts already, and can’t wait for the next batch!
Hannah Thorn is our new Project & Studio Manager. With 5 years of experience in project management in the construction sector, she recently decided to align her creative mind with her work by joining Grain. When she’s not in the office you can find her on a graphic design course, surfing in Cornwall, completing illustration commissions for friends or exploring East London.
Hope you enjoyed the feast of an update! Have a lovely autumn and we’ll write to you again in the winter, perhaps even with some snow on the ground.
